Your privacy matters to us. This document explains in plain language what information Duel holds about you, what it is used for and what control you have over it. It covers the website duelbgm.com, its subdomains and the Duel web app, and it is part of the Terms of Service.
Our principle is simple: we only collect what is needed to run the game, keep accounts secure and keep competition fair, and we do not sell your personal information.
What we collect
- Information you give us
- Your email, username and password when you sign up and, if you choose, a display name, profile picture, gender and country in your profile settings. We never keep your password in readable form; only a hash of it is stored.
- Google or Telegram sign-in
- If you choose this route, we receive your account identifier at that service and basic profile information (such as your name, picture and, with Google, your email). We have no access to your password, contacts or messages at those services.
- Game data
- The matches you played, moves, dice, timing, results, your win and loss statistics and your ranking.
- Preferences
- Language, light or dark mode, board theme, sound and other game preferences.
- Technical data
- IP address, device and browser type, sign-in times and your active sessions. This is needed to secure accounts and to detect cheating and multiple accounts.
- Payment data
- If you use paid features, we keep a record of transactions (amount, time, status and transaction ID). Your full card details stay with the payment gateway and do not reach us. For withdrawals we may ask for the details of the destination account and, where necessary, identity documents.
- Your messages to us
- Your correspondence with support and anything you attach to it.
What we use it for
- Creating and running your account and recognising you when you sign in.
- Running matches, recording results, calculating statistics and rankings, and providing game analysis.
- Password recovery and essential messages about your account, security or changes to these documents.
- Keeping the platform secure and preventing cheating, collusion, multiple accounts and financial abuse.
- Processing deposits and withdrawals and keeping the financial records the law requires.
- Answering support requests and handling complaints.
- Understanding which parts are used most, so we can improve Duel and find errors.
We may also send you Duel news and offers. You can opt out at any time with a message to support; essential messages about your account and security will still be sent.
What is public
Duel is a place for competition, so some information is necessarily visible to others: your display name, profile picture, country (if you entered one), statistics and ranking, and your matches themselves, which others can watch live even without signing in. Your email, password, IP address and financial information are never public. So do not put anything in your display name or profile picture that you would not want others to see.
How long we keep it
We keep account information for as long as your account is open. After an account is closed, the information that identifies you is deleted or anonymised; the match history stays in anonymised form so that your opponents' statistics are not distorted. Financial records and records of violations are kept for as long as the law or the handling of disputes requires. Password recovery codes expire a few minutes after they are issued.
Security
Your connection to Duel is encrypted (HTTPS), passwords are hashed, the session cookie is kept out of reach of scripts, and staff access to data is limited to what their work requires. Even so, no system is completely impenetrable. You help too by choosing a strong, unique password and not sharing it. If a breach occurs that puts your information at risk, we will tell you as quickly as possible.
Your rights
- Access
- You can ask what information we hold about you and request a copy of it.
- Correction
- You can change most profile information yourself in the settings; for the rest, message support.
- Deletion
- You can ask for your account to be closed and your personal information to be deleted or anonymised, except for what the law requires us to keep.
- Restriction and objection
- You can object to processing that is not essential, such as visit statistics or promotional messages.
- Portability
- You can receive the information you provided yourself in a common format.
To use these rights, write to Duel support from the email address registered on your account. To make sure your information does not end up with someone else, we may verify your identity before answering. We reply within 30 days at the latest. If you live somewhere with a data protection law (such as the GDPR in the European Union), your rights under that law are preserved and you may also complain to your local supervisory authority.
Transfers outside your country
Our servers and service providers may be located in a country other than yours. By using Duel you accept that your information is processed there. This policy applies to it in every case.
Children and teenagers
Duel is not for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect information from minors. If we learn that an account belongs to a minor, we close it and delete its information. If you are a parent or guardian and have come across such a case, please tell us.
Links to other sites
You may find links on Duel to other websites and social networks. This policy covers Duel only, and we are not responsible for how those sites treat your information.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we publish the new version here and update the date at the top of the page. Important changes are announced on the site before they take effect.
