Like most websites, Duel stores small pieces of information on your device to keep you signed in and to remember your settings. This document says exactly what is stored and why. It complements the Privacy Policy.
What cookies and browser storage are
A cookie is a small text file that a site places in your browser and that the browser sends back to the same site on later visits. Browser storage (Local Storage) does a similar job, except that its contents stay on your device and are not sent to the server automatically. In this document we call both of them "cookies".
How Duel uses cookies
- Essential
- Without these you cannot sign in or play; for example the session cookie that shows you are signed in. This group cannot be switched off.
- Security
- When you sign in with Google or Telegram, a temporary value is stored so we can be sure the sign-in response really belongs to your own request.
- Preferences
- Your choices, such as light or dark mode, sound and how the board is drawn, so you do not have to set them again every time.
- Visit statistics
- So we know which pages are viewed most and where the site is slow or failing.
Duel does not use cookies to show you targeted advertising on other websites.
What is stored
| Name | Type | Purpose | Lifetime |

| google_oauth_state, telegram_oauth_state | Browser storage, security | Protects sign-in with Google or Telegram against forged requests. | Only during sign-in |
| google_oauth_return_path, telegram_oauth_return_path | Browser storage, functional | Takes you back to the page you were on after signing in. | Only during sign-in |
| app_theme_mode | Browser storage, preferences | Light or dark mode. | Until you clear it |
| sett-backgammin | Browser storage, preferences | Game settings such as sound and animation. | Until you clear it |
| canvasBoard | Browser storage, preferences | How the game board is drawn. | Until you clear it |
| App cache files | Browser cache | Keeps the site's static files so Duel opens faster and can be installed as an app. | Until the next update or until you clear the cache |
| Yektanet cookies | Third party, visit statistics | The web analytics service Yektanet sets its own cookies to count visits and measure overall visitor behaviour. | According to Yektanet's policy |
This list may change as the site changes; when it does, we update this page.
Managing and deleting cookies
Every browser lets you view cookies, delete them or stop them from being stored, for all sites or for one particular site. These settings are usually found under "Privacy" or "Security". You can also block third-party cookies entirely; that has no effect on playing on Duel.
- If you delete or block the session cookie, you are signed out and cannot sign in for as long as it stays blocked.
- If you clear browser storage, settings such as display mode and sound go back to their defaults.
- If you clear cookies in the middle of a match, you have to sign in again, and your clock keeps running in the meantime.
